Deezer Further Expands Audio Content With Addition Of Deezer Football, A Dedicated Football Section

Deezer enlists talkSPORT and SPORT1.fm to provide content for Premier League, FA Cup and Bundesliga matches

1st October 2015, London, Deezer, the global on-demand music and audio streaming service has expanded its content offering with the addition of live football commentary and podcasts, sitting alongside its library of 35 million music tracks and 20,000 podcasts.

Deezer listeners in the UK and Germany will be able to catch second-by-second action of Premier League and Bundesliga games respectively. Whether fans are at home waiting for that last minute equaliser, or out and about praying their team holds on to that 1-0 lead, they can now stay up-to-date on the latest football action on Deezer.

The addition of live, premium sports content allows Deezer to build on its existing news, talk and entertainment offerings. Deezer purchased Stitcher in 2014 and launched full podcast integration in May of this year. Deezer’s talk offering is currently available in the UK, France and Sweden with more markets rolling out this year.

The new dedicated Deezer Football section will include:

  • Live match commentary
  • Football podcasts in the UK
  • Match fixtures, live updates and results board
  • Football related playlists
  • Content from Deezer Football editors

“Football is a major passion for many of our listeners, and we wanted to find a way to bring them closer to what they love,” said Alexander Holland, Chief Content and Product Officer at Deezer. “Our new dedicated Football section means that fans can easily stay on top of match results, listen to live games, and catch-up on the latest podcasts. With Deezer Football you now have access to even more of your favourite audio content in one place.”

“With a team of expert commentators and pundits broadcasting live and exclusive Premier League matches, talkSPORT’s football coverage is world-class,” said Scott Taunton, Chief Operating Officer for talkSPORT’s parent company UTV Media. “As the audio streaming landscape evolves it is important for us to work with the platforms that are leading this change, and by partnering with Deezer, we are bringing the best football content in the world to those who matter the most – the fans.”

“Our collaboration with Deezer will offer first-class football on even more platforms so our fans can listen to Bundesliga and never miss a single game.” Robin Seckler, Managing Director Digital Products at SPORT1.

Football on Deezer can now be found on the homepage and in the apps section, and is available to free (ad supported) and Premium users.
