New York, NY [November 14, 2018]: British rock band Queen is experiencing a surge in its UK streams following last week’s release of the new biographical movie Bohemian Rhapsody, according to new data released today from global music streaming service Deezer. The classic 1976 hit ‘Somebody To Love’ soared as much as 438% since the start of October, whilst streams of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ increased by an impressive 162%, while ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ proved popular with a 124% boost.

In the last week alone, since the film had its world premiere in London last Wednesday, streams of all Queen songs have rocketed by 39%, with the 1974 single ‘Killer Queen’ experiencing the biggest increase, with streams up by 41%.  Interestingly, many of those streaming Queen tracks in the last month weren’t even born when lead singer Freddie Mercury passed away. This month marks 27 years since the hugely popular icon passed away in November 1991, yet one in six (16%) people streaming Queen this month are only 18-24 years old.

Deezer’s data also revealed the top 10 streamed Queen songs of the last month:

  1. Bohemian Rhapsody

  2. Don’t Stop Me Now

  3. Another One Bites The Dust

  4. I Want To Break Free

  5. Somebody To Love

  6. We Will Rock You

  7. Killer Queen

  8. We Are The Champions

  9. Crazy Little Thing Called Love

  10. Fat Bottomed Girls

Adam Read, UK Music Editor, said: “It’s great to see a movie pay respect to one of the world’s most iconic bands and to see people come back to all of their fantastic songs. Queen’s music, as the data shows, is truly timeless and will no doubt continue to be enjoyed by future generations. We created a special 100% Queen playlist to help new audiences find not only the band’s biggest hits, but also the hidden gems that are definitely worth listening to.”
