The second edition of our 2018 Deezer NEXT has landed. Throughout 2018 we’re supporting emerging acts that we’re massively excited about. In round one, the likes of Jorja Smith and Yxng Bane joined alumni like Rag’n’Bone Man, Anne-Marie, Tom Misch and Lady Leshurr.
Now we’re announcing the latest acts we think are set for big things. So today we’re introducing you to Zak Abel, who makes tunes so catchy you’ll be singing them for days (trust us).
Introducing: Zak Abel
AKA: Your new favourite (Br)it boy
Hometown: North London
Who is he? Combining an innate flair for songwriting and a voice beyond his years (FYI, he’s 23), Zak has already collaborated with Gorgon City, Tom Misch (Deezer NEXT 2017) and Wretch 32. His music takes inspiration from ‘70s funk and groove tracks, and Zak’s goal is to connect with as many people as possible, in a deep and meaningful way.
The sound: Catchy soulful pop that could fill stadiums.
Fun fact: Zak used to play table tennis for England and was ranked number one in the country for his age group.
Why we love him: His effortless raspy vocals are perfectly complemented by electric beats and productions. It’s a treat for your earholes.
Start with: “Unstable”
Go deeper: “These Are The Days”
