VIDEO: The Kills’ Deezer Session

After a five-year absence, multi-faceted alluring rock minimalists The Kills are back with a new album Ash & Ice, released early June.

Over their almost decade-and-a-half career, the band has released four records. But unlike previous albums which had an air of detachment and emotional austerity, the 13 songs on Ash & Ice are more affecting, addictive and seductive, reflecting the kind of push-pull you feel when you find yourself in a tough-love relationship.

From the Trans-Siberian Railway where Hince started composing Ash & Ice to the hills of Hollywood and to New York City via London and Nashville, The Kills’ epic sonic journey meant discarding their own ideas on what it means to be a guitar band. “In an effort to not repeat ourselves, the path of least resistance has never been ours. Change is uneasy. Art should be uneasy” says Alison Mosshart. Ash & Ice is The Kills at their emotionally charged, arresting best.

In this rare acoustic and exquisite Deezer Session The Kills give us their all. ‘A sonic journey’ indeed.
