Legendary Kylie Minogue helps Deezer predict Australia’s score in the Eurovision Song Contest

It’s that time of the year, you’ve been avoiding pesky phone calls from those friends who’ll find any excuse to celebrate, you’ve cursed your Twitter feed until your mouth was dry and desperately tried to find other plans for your Saturday night (does dropping off the face of the Earth count?). But you know, deep down in your heart, that when that Saturday night comes, you’ll be with your bros on a couch, watching the Eurovision song contest… and loving it.

Deezer will be no exception to the rule and in celebration of Australia’s arrival into the magical world of Eurovision, we have looked to pint-sized Queen of Aussie Pop Kylie Minogue, in a bid to predict which countries are most likely to back the first ever Australian participant in the song contest.

Based on the percentage of people from each of the participating countries that have listened to a Kylie track in the past six months (don’t bother denying it, everyone loves a Kylie track), Deezer has awesomely yet scientifically calculated which countries will most likely give the Aussies 12 points, and who’ll award the cringe-worthy nil.

Eurovision is renowned for tactical voting between countries (Cyprus/Greece UK/Ireland to name but a few… ahem), but this list from Deezer aims to dispel the projected politics, and see – supposing predictions were based on true music taste within each country – who would truly grant Australia the coveted 12 points.

Sam from Deezer said, “no one can dispute the love there is for pop goddess Kylie Minogue across all corners of the globe, and the Deezer streaming data proves that Australia are definitely worthy contenders. It was likely that the UK were going to come out on top – but it seems they might not be the only country who just won’t be able to get the Aussie act out of their head”.
