DEEZER ANNOUNCES PICK OF UK & IRELAND BREAKTHROUGH ARTISTS FOR 2017 WITH LAUNCH OF DEEZER NEXT PROGRAMME

Tuesday 17th January 2017 Deezer, one of the world’s leading global music streaming platforms, today announced a brand-new initiative which sees it supporting upcoming music artists launch their careers. Named Deezer Next, the definitive list of twelve artists, three of which will be supported at a global level, will also give music fans the inside track on who to listen out for across a range of genres in 2017.

Featuring an eclectic mix of talented brand new artists, including Rag’n’Bone Man and Lady Leshurr, who are already making waves on the global music scene, this innovative programme will also champion relative newcomers such as Anne-Marie, Barns Courtney, Jay Prince, Maggie Rogers, Pumarosa, Raye, Ray Blk, The Academic, The Amazons and Tom Misch, who combined make up the 12 selected artists from UK& Ireland. Rag’n’ Bone Man and Anne-Marie have also been chosen as two out of three acts who be supported at a global level by the Deezer Next programme.

This newly created programme, aimed at identifying and championing emerging talent, will see the music streaming service work directly with the artists, record labels and managers to cultivate and develop their profile. Outside of the UK & Ireland, Deezer will also be selecting artists in a number of countries including the US, France, Latin America and Germany to take part in the programme and will help develop their profile through playlisting and through the creation of individual content and campaigns with editorial and marketing support across all channels, including video, podcast, social and/or interactive. To further demonstrate Deezer’s commitment, music from one of the global priority artists will feature in an upcoming Deezer TV advertising campaign.

Anne-Marie

English singer and songwriter Anne-Marie has featured on four top charting singles, including Clean Bandit’s number one record ‘Rockabye’. Pop focused, her work collaborates with highly acclaimed artists including Dizzee Rascal, Gorgan City and Magnetic Man. Her latest single ALARM is out now. A new single will be released in February.

Barns Courtney

A British singer/songwriter who has opened the stage for artists such as Ed Sheeran and Tom Odell. Barns Courtney’s Blues Rock sounds received a heavy boost in 2015 when his song “Fire” appeared on the soundtrack to the Bradley Cooper vehicle Burnt. His HANDS EP is out May 27th.

Jay Prince

Jay Prince is a Hip Hop recording artist and music producer from East London. His style of music has been described as a chilled and mellow nostalgic vibe, with influences of 90’s US Hip Hop, Jay brings a combination of complex poetic lyrics and flow to his music. Prince has already supported some very impressive acts such as Major Lazer, Ghostface Killah, Snakehips and Jess Glynne. Prince’s latest mixtape Smile Good is out now.

Lady Leshurr

English rapper and singer best known for her “Queen’s Speech” series of songs and videos. Lady Leshurr initially gained fame through her critically-acclaimed mixtapes, winning Best Female at the 2011 Official Mixtape awards. Her brand-new UK tour which kicks off at the end of February.

Maggie Rogers
