Deezer Expands Global Audio Offering Adding New Features And Markets; Now With Over 40,000 Radio Shows And Podcasts

 LONDON, October 29, 2015 – Deezer, one of the leading global music streaming services with more than 6 million total subscribers in over 180 countries, announced the expansion of its audio offering with newfeatures and the addition of over 20,000 new radio shows and podcasts worldwide. Deezer listeners now have access to more than 40,000 programs as the service doubles the amount of radio and podcast content available in its library. Current partners include NPR, Financial Times, Panoply, WNYC, This American Life, and CBS Radio News. New partners include talkSPORT, Bayerischer Rundfunk, France 24 and Braincast. Deezer will also be expanding its audio offering in five key markets, bringing the best of news, entertainment and talk programming to Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and Colombia.

Deezer has added new features to the News & Entertainment section, creating a fully featured podcast listening experience. These include:

 

  • New offline mode – Download favourite shows and listen offline, anytime Wi-Fi or a data connection isn’t available (Premium+ and mobile only).
  • Create and manage playlists – Listen to the latest episodes of shows in your library sequentially as a playlist.
  • Social sharing – Share favourite podcasts with friends on Deezer or via social media, including Twitter and Facebook.

This new global offering follows the launch of Deezer Talk in May 2015 in the UK, France and Sweden. Deezer acquired the leading radio and podcast app Stitcher at the end of last year.

They want to be entertained, informed and discover new content to match their individual taste,” said Alexander Holland, Chief Content and Product Officer at Deezer. “We are meeting the needs of our listeners with an on-demand audio service that covers the best in news, entertainment and sport programming.”

 

New podcast partners in Western Europe include UK’s talKSPORT, France 24 and Germany’s Bayerischer Rundfunk, Deutsche Welle, ZEIT Wissen, detektor.FM, MyRadioDay with DPA content. Latin American partners are comprised of Brazil’s Braincast, Jovem Pan, VEJA, Matando Robôs Gigantes and Mexico’s Radio Formula, Chilango, Dixo and Uno Cero.

The release will roll out globally on October 29th, 2015 for Free, Premium+ and Deezer Elite listeners across web, iOS and Android. Updates will follow shortly thereafter in Spain and Colombia.
