  • Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift and Karol G are among the most streamed artists on Deezer in the U.S. so far this year

Giving more visibility to women artists. This is the goal of the global audio streaming service Deezer, who just announced a series of initiatives and special content on its platform for International Women’s Day

“There is still a significant lack of presence and recognition of female talent in the music industry. This International Women’s Day, we’re making it easy for users to discover amazing female singers and content creators on Deezer. To help, our editors have developed special, gender-specific playlists spotlighting powerful women,” said Regina Martiarena, Artists Relations Manager at Deezer. “Deezer wants to champion female artists and talent, and give them the opportunity to shine on our platform,” she concluded.

Deezer’s Emerging Talent Program

Deezer selected a woman as its next ‘Deezer Fresh,’ a homegrown approach to supporting emerging talent. Mexican artist Silvana Estrada, known for her folk-pop style song who is “obsessed with words, sound, and the beauty of emotion.” She grew up listening to Latin American folklore and drawing inspiration from poems. During this month, Estrada will be at the forefront of locally tailored initiatives, including starring in originals exclusive to Deezer,  branding and playlisting. Her songs have a unique style and will now have the opportunity to be exposed to global audiences on the platform.

New Flow Moods Wheel Filter: ‘100% Women’

Deezer is also putting women at the forefront with a single click. By just pressing the megaphone icon for ‘100% Women’ on the Flow Moods wheel, users can access a non-stop stream of music by women. This exclusive feature adapts to the tastes of each user, and is available on both mobile and desktop.

Deezer Launches a Curated Channel Spotlighting Female Talent

During March, the streaming platform’s homepage will highlight playlists starring female talent. ‘’Women Voices” is an exclusive channel with Original Sessions and curated playlists in support of female content creators. Among those highlighted playlists is “100% Icons”, which celebrates female legends–like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse–that impacted the world of music and who will never be forgotten, while also positioning some of today’s favorites, like Lady Gaga and Lizzo

Deezer’s Editors also wanted to bring light to songwriters, producers and musicians who wrote, produced or performed on international hits. “Women Behind the Music” is a space where users can learn about the highly accomplished women behind some of today’s greatest hits. Additional channel highlights  include “Women to Watch 2022,” which features the most fresh talent today, and “Most Steamed 2021,” a roundup of all the women who topped last year’s charts.

All of this content and much more can be found on Deezer’s female empowerment channel “Women Voices”, which is also home to an amazing podcast collection featuring female  creators. Here, users can stream popular podcasts focused on women’s issues and interests like “Women and Societal Issues”, “Women and Wellness”, “Inspiring Women”, and “Women in Charge”.
