Villagers Deezer Session

Today we release our first Deezer Session of 2014, starting the year how we mean to continue by bringing you even closer to your favourite artists. This time it’s a stripped-back set from Irish indie folk band Villagers.

Conor O’Brien performed three songs from their Mercury Prize-nominated and critically acclaimed second album ‘{Awayland}’, along with ‘Set the Tigers Free’, taken from their equally lauded debut album ‘Becoming a Jackal’.

James Foley, Head of Editorial,  Deezer UK & Ireland said: “Villagers’ Conor O’Brien is one of the best Irish songwriters of his generation, and this is demonstrated to devastating effect in this Deezer Session; these songs sound every bit as powerful when reduced to the bare bones. We’re delighted to be able to give fans of the band the chance to witness their unique brand of literate folk in this incredibly intimate setting.”

The EP from the session is available on Deezer, which you can stream below. Check out all the other Deezer Sessions here, with artists such as Lorde, Phoenix, and Franz Ferdinand.

Enjoy!
